Meteorology student Kate, along with her boyfriend and a few friends, is hunting tornadoes in Oklahoma for her class project. She comes up with the idea of spraying a substance inside the tornado that could theoretically destroy it. However, nature takes its course – three, including her boyfriend, die, leaving only Kate and Javi alive. Five years later, Javi finds her in New York, where she works in an office, and convinces her to return to Oklahoma for a week. Tornado season is just underway there, and Javi now has a large team and significant funding. When they arrive, the first thing they encounter is a group of rowdy Youtubers led by cowboy meteorologist Tyler.
